Temporary Junior Medical Technologist

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(A) SPECIFIC 

1. Perform specimen reception an order entry 
2. Perform maintenance and Quality Control and laboratory analysers independently
3. Perform routine waived and moderate complexity patient testing independently 
4. May perform high complexity testing after requisite training
5. Ensure the laboratory meets the expected turn-around-time
6. Perform rotating shift and night duties
7. Perform maintenance on laboratory analysers
8. Ensure the work area remains clean and tidy after use
9. Strictly adhere to all laboratory safety policies 
10. Assist Principal Medical technologist, Senior Medical Technologist and Medical Technologist in maintaining the inventory according to lean practices
11. Assist Principal Medical technologist, Senior Medical Technologist and Medical Technologist in preparing the laboratory for audits
12. Be involved in the Laboratory Quality Management Program and Quality Improvement Initiatives

(B) GENERAL

1. Any other duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager and Assistant Laboratory Manager 
2. Be involved in hospital activities including participation in the Continuous Improvement Programme
3. Participate in community outreach programmes 
4. Uphold the ideals and practices of Yishun Health 
5. Perform duties in a proficient and professional manner commensurate with their academic and technical skills and training

• Diploma in Biomedical Science or related discipline
