Sr Research Asst
JOB SUMMARY
As Senior Research Assistant in the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) Research Laboratory, you will be part of a core team of scientists conducting immunology research on infectious diseases of public health significance. This includes characterizing the magnitude, breadth and durability of immune responses to infections and vaccines, immune profiling to evaluate novel therapies, and assessing population immunity. CDA Research Laboratory (CRL) leads research to support evidence-based policy and operational decision-making on infectious diseases of public health significance.
You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the design, execution and analysis of research related to the Immunology section of the CDA Research Laboratory.
- Perform cellular immunological assays (ELISPOT, cytokine profiling, and immunophenotyping), antibody-based assays (ELISA and virus neutralization), and cell culture.
- Preparation, handling, and processing of clinical specimens.
- Support the coordination and management of clinical studies related to the CDA Research Laboratory.
- Assist with data analysis, preparing reports, manuscripts and presentations.
- Maintain core research capabilities for CDA in epidemic preparedness and response.
- Assist with general laboratory maintenance and other assigned duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Biomedical Science, with a relevant major or specialization in life sciences, biological sciences, immunology, or infectious disease
EXPERIENCE
- Prior work experience in an immunology laboratory setting and strong competence in related techniques (e.g., cell culture, ELISPOT, ELISA, flow cytometry, neutralization assays) is preferred.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively in an appropriate style for various purposes.
- Able to work effectively with a cross-functional team.
