JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Podiatrist is to provide Podiatry services within a multi-disciplinary setting. The Podiatrist is able to assess, diagnose and treat common conditions for:
- Ingrown toenails, fungal nails, skin conditions on the foot such as callus, corns, and verrucae
- Biomechanical foot related problems; prescribe footwear, orthotics, offloading devices, stretches and taping
- Management of foot wounds; conduct wound debridement, offloading insoles, total contact casting
Staff who is certified by an Orthopaedic Surgeon can carry out risk assessments for nail surgery and to perform Partial or Total Nail Avulsions under local anaesthesia.
