Job Summary

Function as a Senior Medical Social Worker within National Centre for Infectious Disease to provide comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment and intervention in patient care that meets professional standards of practice.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Casework / Psychosocial Care

Provide end-to-end case management support and appropriate level of care through assessment, care planning, interventions and evaluation of complex/specialised cases involving patients with infectious diseases, including addressing stigma, isolation concerns, and disease-specific psychosocial challenges.

 

Group Work

Lead as a domain subject expert in developing, conducting and evaluating group work sessions to build social support systems and networks for patients with infectious diseases and their families.

Formulate and outline outreach programmes for individuals and/or target groups based on outreach strategies tailored to infectious disease populations.

 

Community Work

Assist and/or develop and evaluate new service delivery models, programmes and protocols to promote better integration of infectious disease services within the organisation or sector.

Deliver public education talks independently on infectious disease-related psychosocial topics, stigma reduction, and community support.

Network with community partners, public health agencies, and infectious disease organisations for the welfare of target patient groups.

 

Programme Development and Implementation

Identify service gaps in response to infectious disease patients' needs and make recommendations to improve service provision of programmes to target client groups or other stakeholders/partners/agencies.

Plan, manage and deliver programmes for patients, patients' families, multi-disciplinary teams and relevant stakeholders in the specialised area of infectious disease social work.

Participate in reviews of inter-departmental policies and processes related to infectious disease management and infection control protocols.

 

Research and Professional Practice

Engage in research related to infectious disease psychosocial interventions and outcomes.

Apply social work ethics and values in all aspects of practice, particularly in managing sensitive health information and addressing discrimination.

 

Job Requirements

Education

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Medical Social Worker.  Experience in infectious disease settings, public health, or working with stigmatised populations is highly desirable.
