Job Description:
The Senior Clinical Psychologist is a key member of the multidisciplinary Mood Disorders Unit (MDU) at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), providing specialist psychological assessment, intervention, consultation, and service development for individuals with depressive disorders, bipolar and related disorders, and associated psychological difficulties. Working across inpatient and outpatient settings, the clinician delivers evidence-based psychological treatments, develops comprehensive case formulations, and collaborates closely with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to support recovery-oriented care.
As a senior clinician, you will need to provide clinical leadership through the supervision of junior psychologists and trainees, while contributing to teaching, research, quality improvement, and service innovation initiatives. The role also involves supporting the development and evaluation of specialised mood disorder services, providing professional guidance to subordinate staff, and participating in direct clinical care and operational responsibilities to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based psychological services.
Mood Disorders Unit:
The Mood Disorders Unit (MDU) is a specialist multidisciplinary service within the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) that provides comprehensive assessment, treatment, and recovery-focused care for individuals with depressive disorders, bipolar and related disorders, and other complex mood conditions. Serving both inpatient and outpatient populations, the MDU adopts an evidence-based and holistic approach that integrates psychological, psychiatric, and psychosocial interventions. Care is delivered through a collaborative team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, medical social workers, occupational therapists, and allied health professionals. The unit is committed to clinical excellence, service innovation, research, education, and quality improvement, with the goal of promoting recovery, enhancing quality of life, and supporting long-term wellbeing for patients and their families.
Job Responsibilities:
As a senior clinical psychologist in the Psychology Department and MDU working with adults with mood disorder presentation, you will be expected to:
- Provide specialist psychological assessment and intervention services, including psychometric assessment and evidence-based individual psychotherapy, for inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Facilitate and evaluate structured therapeutic group programmes for individuals experiencing mood and related disorders.
- Contribute to the training, supervision, and professional development of psychologists, psychology trainees, and allied health professionals.
- Support mental health promotion, psychoeducation, service development, and other professional activities within the Institute's framework.
- Participate in and contribute to research, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery
Requirements:
Competency
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Master of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from an established university.
- Preferably relevant working experience.
- For the Senior Clinical Psychologist, preferably with 3 to 5 years of working experience
- Accreditation, registration or license for practice with an established or recognized psychological professional body will be an advantage.
