Why This Role Matters
The Inpatient Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring that ward operations run smoothly, efficiently and safely for patients, caregivers and staff. This role serves as the operational lead supporting inpatient wards across the hospital, ensuring service excellence, optimal utilisation of resources and continuous operational improvement. Working closely with clinicians, nurses, support services and hospital leadership, the incumbent helps drive inpatient transformation, operational readiness and patient experience initiatives while supporting the delivery of high-quality care.
What You Will Drive
1. Inpatient Operations & Service Excellence
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of inpatient wards and provide operational support across ward services.
- Support and manage Inpatient PSA teams across inpatient towers.
- Monitor and improve ward operational workflows, patient experience and service standards.
- Investigate operational issues, patient feedback and service gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with clinicians, nursing and support departments to ensure smooth ward operations.
2. Facility Management & Operational Readiness
- Ensure wards remain operationally ready through effective facilities, equipment and system management.
- Support equipment procurement, replacement, maintenance and enhancement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot ward-related operational systems such as:
- Ward Dashboards
- Patient Bedside Terminals
- Patient Information Boards
- Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS)
- Coordinate with support departments to implement new initiatives and operational improvements.
3. Process Improvement & Transformation
- Review and optimise inpatient workflows from admission to discharge.
- Drive process redesign and operational improvement initiatives.
- Lead non-clinical transformation projects that improve efficiency, patient experience and resource utilisation.
- Harness technology and digital tools to deliver better, faster, safer and more cost-effective care operations.
4. KPI Monitoring & Business Performance
- Maintain and analyse inpatient operational dashboards and trackers.
- Monitor key inpatient metrics including:
- Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR)
- Length of Stay (LOS)
- Discharge referrals
- Ward utilisation indicators
- Provide recommendations to improve bed utilisation, operational efficiency and service outcomes.
5. Project Management & Ward Setup
- Lead ward opening, setup and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate procurement, facilities readiness, staff readiness and licensing requirements.
- Support implementation of medical, non-medical and technology infrastructure required for inpatient services.
- Manage project timelines, stakeholder engagement and operational readiness activities.
6. Stakeholder Engagement & Secretariat Support
- Act as secretariat and coordinator for inpatient operations initiatives and workgroups.
- Support Acute Care Enterprise (ACE) initiatives and hospital-wide programmes.
- Prepare presentations, reports, meeting materials and track action items.
- Coordinate projects, engagements and events involving internal and external stakeholders.
What You Bring
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Healthcare Management, Business, Operations Management or a related discipline.
- Experience in healthcare operations, ward operations, inpatient administration or hospital service management.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, service improvement and stakeholder coordination.
- Familiarity with hospital operational workflows and healthcare service delivery environments.
