Why This Role Matters

We are looking for a highly motivated Assistant Manager to help ensure the reliability, safety and operational excellence of our hospital's facilities and infrastructure.

Working closely with clinical, operational and external stakeholders, you will contribute directly to the delivery of quality patient care by ensuring that essential facilities and safety-critical systems perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure Reliability of Critical Building Systems

  • Oversee the maintenance and operational readiness of safety-critical building systems, including doors, fire and smoke curtains, shutters, dock levellers, patient hoists and hospital beds.
  • Ensure systems are fully operational during both routine operations and emergency situations.
  • Partner closely with service providers, users and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and drive continuous improvements.

Safeguard Hospital Infrastructure

  • Manage the integrity and performance of key building elements, including waterproofing systems, façades, roads and access areas.
  • Investigate defects, leakage issues and infrastructure concerns, and coordinate timely rectification works.
  • Collaborate with consultants and contractors to enhance asset performance and longevity.

Drive Facilities Operational Excellence

  • Ensure building systems operate efficiently, reliably and in accordance with service standards.
  • Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations and key performance indicators.
  • Identify recurring operational issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Manage service providers supporting non-medical equipment such as patient beds, hoists and mobility aids.

Deliver Improvement and Renewal Projects

  • Lead upgrading, replacement and enhancement projects across facilities and infrastructure systems.
  • Participate in project planning, design reviews, construction activities and commissioning processes.
  • Ensure projects meet operational, safety, infection control and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate smooth project handovers and documentation management.

Champion Regulatory Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory and healthcare requirements.
  • Manage inspections, certifications and audits for systems such as BMUs, lifelines, hoists and structural assets.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready records and documentation.

Manage Contracts and Stakeholder Partnerships

  • Prepare technical specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation.
  • Support tender evaluations, contractor selection and contract administration.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with quality, safety and operational requirements.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to support effective service delivery.

What You Bring

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Facilities Management, Building Management, Property Management, Civil & Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Up to 4 years of relevant experience in facilities management, building operations or project management.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience managing building services, infrastructure systems and improvement projects will be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of facilities operations, maintenance practices and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, civil and M&E drawings and technical documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with BIM or 3D modelling software will be an added advantage.
