Why This Role Matters

Environmental Services play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and patient‑centred healthcare environment. This role supports the full spectrum of environmental services operations, including housekeeping, linen, waste management, landscaping, and pest control, ensuring high standards of hygiene and compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with service partners and internal stakeholders, you will help ensure service excellence, infection control compliance, and continuous improvement of operational processes. Your work directly contributes to patient safety, staff well‑being, and overall quality of care within the hospital.

 

What You Will Drive

1. Service Operations & Contract Management

  • Monitor and review key performance indicators (KPIs) for outsourced services under Environmental Services (e.g. housekeeping, linen, waste, landscaping, pest control).
  • Work closely with service providers to drive service quality and continuous improvement.
  • Support managers in overseeing day‑to‑day service operations and ensuring adherence to contractual and performance standards.
  • Support cross‑coverage of outsourced services when required.

 

2. Quality Assurance, Audits & Compliance

  • Conduct audit checks to ensure services are delivered satisfactorily and in compliance with infection control, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Investigate and respond promptly to feedback from staff, patients, or visitors, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain and manage Environmental Services documentation, procedures, and records to support audits and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of policies, procedures, and work instructions.

 

3. Financial & Procurement Support

  • Participate in the annual budgeting exercise and monitor capital and operating expenditures.
  • Support procurement activities, including service contracts (RFP/ITQ) and ad‑hoc purchases.
  • Assist in preparing approval papers, proposals, and presentations for management review.

 

4. Process Improvement & Operational Support

  • Participate in quality improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency and service standards.
  • Support departmental initiatives and corporate activities as required.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Reporting Officer in support of departmental and organisational goals.

 

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Degree qualification preferred.
  • Diploma holders with relevant experience may be considered.
  • Candidates with other educational backgrounds but strong practical experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in healthcare, environmental services, or facilities management.
  • Experience in Environmental Services within an acute healthcare setting is an advantage.

  • Able to work in both office and healthcare settings.
  • Working hours: 8.30am – 6.00pm (Mon–Thu), 8.30am – 5.30pm (Fri).
  • Able to return to the office after working hours in the event of emergency activation.
