STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
|
|
To perform all general and certain specialized radiographic examinations as an Allied Health Professional at novice level, progressing towards intermediate practitioner. Works with considerable degree of autonomy whilst consolidating experience and preparing for higher level functioning, with due regard to patient care, clinical responsibility, radiation protection and effective use of technology.

DEPARTMENT FUNCTION(S)
- Major Duties and Responsibilities
(A) SPECIFIC (80%)
- Maintain consistent standards of care (including clinical and service) and manage workload effectively
- Perform all duties required of a professional Radiographer.
- Provide radiology services as requested by referring clinicians according to statutory regulations and acceptable clinical standards.
- Ensure compliance to Radiation safety regulations.
- Participate in the maintenance of a round-the-clock radiography service by rotating shifts.
- Being on-call for relief staff for emergency and mass casualties by roster and when necessary.
- Responsible for quality control programs and maintenance of imaging equipment and accessories in the assigned clinical area.
- Provide guidance and co-supervision to junior staff, students, and support staff as assigned
- Ensure personal continual professional development and training.
- Assist in clinical practice improvement or quality improvement activities/projects.
- Maintain zero harm to patients and contribute to safe and effective care delivery.
- Demonstrate evidence-based practice and critically evaluate current research literature relevant to diagnostic radiography.
- Coordinate with staff from other sections or departments to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Cognizant of relevant standard operating protocols (SOPs) and standard work instructions (SWIs) in the assigned clinical areas.
- Ensure proper records keeping and management.
- Responsible for the good housekeeping and inventory of stocks and materials in the assigned clinical area.
(B) GENERAL (20%)
- Provide teaching and leadership guidance to junior staff. Conduct health profession education/training (i.e. in-service) to intra-department colleagues with support.
- Participate in research activities including data collection and analysis as assigned.
- Manage information and data (i.e. service data, performance indicators) to identify gaps and potential areas of change with guidance.
- Any other duties assigned by the reporting officer, Department Manager or Head of Department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Recognized Diploma or Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
- Competent in diagnostic radiography and conversant in radiographic processing, quality control of image and trouble-shooting of imaging equipment.
(B) PROFESSIONAL LICENCE
- Registration with Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)

- Valid practicing certificate
- Radiation Protection Act compliance

- Radiation Worker License
(C) PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Clinical competency in routine diagnostic radiography procedures
