Radiographer (Contract)

Institution:  Tan Tock Seng Hospital
Family Group:  Allied Health

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled Radiographer to perform DEXA scans and vascular ultrasound assessments as part of our precision cardiometabolic research programme. This position focuses on high-quality body composition imaging and vascular structure assessment for research participants with diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

DEXA Scanning (50%)

Body Composition Assessment:

  • Perform whole-body DEXA scans for body composition analysis (total body fat %, visceral adipose tissue, lean mass, bone mineral density)
  • Conduct regional body composition analysis (android/gynoid fat distribution, appendicular lean mass)
  • Ensure proper patient positioning and scan quality
  • Perform quality control checks and phantom calibrations
  • Maintain detailed scan logs and participant records

Data Management:

  • Generate standardized reports from DEXA software
  • Export data for research database (REDCap)
  • Ensure accurate participant identification and data linkage
  • Maintain image quality and artifact-free scans

Vascular Ultrasound (40%)

Carotid Imaging:

  • Perform high-resolution B-mode ultrasound for carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) measurement
  • Image common carotid artery, carotid bulb, and internal/external carotid arteries bilaterally
  • Acquire standardized cine-loops and still images for offline analysis
  • Follow standardized protocols (Mannheim consensus guidelines)

Quality Standards:

  • Ensure optimal image quality (clear intima-media interface, minimal artifacts)
  • Maintain consistent probe positioning and scanning angles
  • Perform regular equipment quality checks
  • Achieve inter-scan reproducibility targets

Administrative & Research Support (10%)

  • Schedule and coordinate imaging appointments for research participants
  • Maintain equipment maintenance logs and service records
  • Assist with protocol development and standard operating procedures
  • Participate in quality assurance audits
  • Support data collection for research studies
  • Collaborate with research team on imaging protocols
