Patient Service Associate, Financial Counselling (Emergency Dept)
The Patient Service Associate plays a key role in the Emergency Department by providing financial counselling support to patients and their families, assisting them in understanding available financial payment schemes and facilitating their admission journey.
Responsibilities:
- Perform patient registration, deposit collection, and provide financial counselling services to patients and their families.
- Provide financial counselling to patients and next-of-kin at the assigned unit (Emergency Department) in compliance with the Healthcare Services Act (HCSA). This includes advising on ward class charges, bill estimates, available subsidies, and payment options.
- Stay updated on healthcare financing initiatives, policies, and schemes to effectively address patients' and next-of-kin's enquiries.
- Process ward upgrade and downgrade requests, including explaining the differences in ward charges and subsidy implications, to ensure appropriate utilisation of government subsidies.
- Coordinate and process patient transfers to other healthcare institutions.
- Handle administrative duties related to patient admissions and other operational or administrative matters as assigned.
Requirements:
- Diploma in any discipline / GCE 'A' or 'O' Level / Higher NITEC / NITEC qualification.
- Prior experience in frontline operations or customer service will be an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willing to don Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and N95 masks when required.
- Able to commit to a 6-day work week on a 3 rotating shift schedule, including weekends and public holidays.
