Manager

Institution:  Woodlands Hospital
Family Group:  Administration

About the Role

Woodlands Hospital is looking for a dynamic and experienced Research and Centre Manager to lead and provide strategic and operational oversight for our Orthopaedic Surgery research centre. This is a key leadership role that sits at the intersection of research administration, project governance, and stakeholder engagement, and offers the opportunity to shape the growth and impact of a developing research centre.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the research centre's operations and portfolio. This includes leading a team of Research Fellows, Research Coordinators, and support staff, and driving workforce planning and resource allocation to build a high-performing team.

On the project side, you will plan, implement, and monitor research programmes in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met to a high standard. You will also take ownership of grant and financial management — from budget planning and forecasting through to financial reporting and liaison with funding agencies.

Beyond day-to-day operations, you will play a meaningful strategic role. Working alongside centre leadership, you will contribute to strategic planning, identify growth opportunities, develop key performance indicators, and support new funding and partnership initiatives that strengthen the centre's research impact and sustainability.

Other key responsibilities include managing IRB applications and regulatory documentation, overseeing research data and records management, leading centre communications and outreach, and coordinating governance activities such as review meetings and reporting to management committees.

Who We're Looking For

You should have at least 5 years of experience in research administration, management, and operations, ideally within a clinical or healthcare research setting. A working knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and clinical trial processes will be important for success in this role.

We are looking for someone with strong leadership and interpersonal skills, who is comfortable managing cross-functional teams and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. You should be highly organised, an excellent communicator — both written and verbal — and confident in presenting to external audiences and preparing governance materials.

Proficiency in MS Office and project management software is expected.

Why Join Us
