We are looking for a Junior Medical Laboratory Technologist (JMLT) within a dynamic laboratory environment, drive quality improvements, and make a meaning contribution to patient care through excellence in diagnostic services.

Key Clinical Responsibilities
Specific
i. Receive test requests and specimens in the laboratory, and perform order entry for tests in the laboratory information system (LIS).
ii. Perform testing of specimens from patients.
iii. Prepare test requests and specimens for despatch to referral laboratories, and follow up on test reports from referred laboratories, ensuring that they are available in LIS and NGEMR in a timely manner.
iv. Assist in intra-departmental audits and external quality assurance programmes.
v. Check billing for cases, and perform daily billing reconciliation, including billing amendments.
vi. Manage inventory of consumable items.
vii. Answer telephone calls within campus and from other institutions regarding patients’ results and service enquiries.
General
i. Perform duties in a professional manner, commensurate with academic and technical skills and training.
ii. Adhere to laws, regulations, and hospital procedures and policies, including Personal Data Protection Act (2012), cybersecurity regulations, and occupational health and safety procedures, such as safe handling and disposal of biohazardous waste.
iii. Uphold the visions and practices of Woodlands Health.
iv. Perform other duties in laboratory, as assigned.
What You Bring to the Organisation
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (or equivalent)
- Basic knowledge of clinical biochemistry and clinical microbiology principles, specimen handling and common laboratory assays.

Working conditions and physical requirements
- Laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological specimens, chemical reagents and sharps; PPE and safe work practices required at all times.
- Frequent standing, repetitive manual tasks, and occasional lifting of equipment or supplies within safe limits.

40 hours per week (weekends and PH)
