Job Description:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director, Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction and executive oversight across key operational and organisational functions within the hospital.

The incumbent will lead Patient Support Operations, comprising Patient Service Centre, Hospitality & Environmental Services and Hospital Supply Chain, while also overseeing Audit & Governance Management and Crisis Planning & Operations. Working closely with senior management, clinical leaders and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will drive operational excellence, strengthen governance and regulatory compliance, enhance organisational resilience, and support the delivery of exceptional patient care and service outcomes. 

The Challenges

Strategic Leadership and Operational Excellence

  • Provide strategic leadership and executive oversight over Patient Service Centre, Hospitality & Environmental Services and Hospital Supply Chain to ensure service excellence, operational effectiveness and a seamless patient experience. 
  • Drive organisation-wide initiatives to enhance patient-centric service delivery, optimise operational performance and strengthen stakeholder experience.
  • Partner senior clinical, nursing and administrative leaders to align operational priorities with institutional goals and strategic objectives. 

Governance, Compliance and Risk Oversight

  • Lead the hospital's audit, governance and data protection functions, ensuring robust governance frameworks, regulatory compliance and organisational accountability.
  • Provide strategic oversight of audit readiness, governance reviews, policy implementation and regulatory engagements.
  • Champion a strong culture of compliance and continuous improvement across the organisation. 

Organisational Resilience and Crisis Preparedness

  • Provide executive leadership for crisis planning, emergency preparedness, enterprise risk management and business continuity programmes.
  • Strengthen institutional readiness through the development, governance and testing of crisis management and business continuity frameworks.
  • Partner national agencies, healthcare institutions and internal stakeholders to enhance organisational resilience and emergency response capabilities. 

People and Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary leadership team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, collaboration and accountability. 
  • Build trusted partnerships with senior management, regulators and external stakeholders to advance organisational priorities and outcomes. 
  • Drive strategic planning, organisational transformation and performance improvement initiatives across the areas under purview. 

The Requirements

  • Recognised degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Risk Management or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
  • At least 15 years of leadership experience, preferably within healthcare, public sector or other large and complex organisations.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale operations, governance, organisational planning, risk management, business continuity, crisis management or related functions.
  • Strong understanding of governance, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, organisational resilience and data protection frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through complexity, influence senior stakeholders and drive organisation-wide initiatives and transformation.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen, sound judgement and excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management and people leadership skills.
