About the PrepVax Office

The PrepVax Office is a national pandemic preparedness programme that aims to draw on the vaccine development capabilities across the public and private sectors. This will be done through various activities across vaccine development, including vaccine development projects, exploring technology platforms, and clinical trial efforts.

Job Summary

The Deputy Director will be part of the leadership team of PrepVax. Together with Director PrepVax and incumbent Deputy Director, you would be involved in directing and operationalising the programmes of the PrepVax Office. This includes managing stakeholders and partners, overseeing the team running the administrative aspects of the Office such as project management and Finances, strategic planning of PrepVax’s programmes, and leading the operationalisation of PrepVax’s vaccine development-related activities. You will be working in a dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIFIC

The Deputy Director will:

  • Be involved in leading the planning and implementation of PrepVax’s work;
  • Work together with Director and incumbent Deputy Director PrepVax to lead the shaping, development and implementation of all of PrepVax’s programmes in vaccine development, clinical trials and people development. This would include both strategising overall direction and operationalising the workstreams.
  • Play a leading role in the coordination of various activities to further PrepVax’s work. This includes working with relevant parties such as collaborators, funding agencies, regulators, academia, and biomedical industry partners, from local as well as overseas institutions and agencies;
  • Take on a leading role to guide team in ensuring smooth running of administrative activities from Finance to Secretariat functions and others. This would include multiple party coordination, preparing and clearing meeting agenda and presentation materials, taking/vetting minutes, monitoring and processing of invoice payments, claims, procurement ,and others;

  • Any other projects or tasks assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in preferably regulatory, manufacturing, public health, microbiology, epidemiology, biostatistics, biological, biomedical or chemical sciences, or a related discipline. Advanced/post-graduate degrees preferred.
  • Minimally 10-15 years of relevant experience ideally in a research, healthcare or public health-related environment
  • Experience in running vaccine development projects will be a plus. Specific expertise in Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control, or Clinical Trials would be advantageous.
  • Experience in overseeing handling research budgets and finance.
  • Experience in managing NMRC-awarded grants will be advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience managing and executing projects independently
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience managing people and project teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong experience in providing guidance to team.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid working environment, with an ability to engage effectively with all levels of seniority.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented and responsible.
  • Independent, organized and self-driven.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, pleasant personality with positive working and learning attitude.
