Job Purpose

 

The Clinical Informatics Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing the portfolio of clinical informatics projects and initiatives within NHG Group Health Informatics. This role involves planning, management, coordination, and execution of NGEMR-Epic programs as well as clinical systems projects to ensure they align with NHG’s vision and mission, as well as ensure that the projects deliver value in terms of improved patient outcomes, operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.

 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Areas of Responsibility

 

  1. Portfolio Management
  • Maintain a comprehensive portfolio of clinical informatics projects.
  • Prioritise projects based on strategic importance, resource availability, and potential impact.
  • Monitor and report on the status of projects within the portfolio, ensuring timely completion and alignment with organizational goals.

 

  1. Project Coordination
  • Coordinate with clinical and IT teams to ensure proper submission of projects with clear project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including ground users, technical staff, and executive leadership.
  • Monitor and track the execution of the projects to ensure that projects are executed within the defined scope, timeline, and budget.

 

  1. Stakeholder Management
  • Engage with clinical staff to understand their needs and challenges, ensuring informatics solutions support business needs and are user-centric.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical departments and the IT department, translating clinical requirements into technical specifications.

 

  1. Portfolio Resource Management and Performance Measurement
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) for key processes to ensure demands are assessed and prioritised.
  • Manage the budget for the demand portfolio, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Prioritise projects and allocate resources effectively to maximize project outcomes and organizational value.
  • Develop visual management to track project progress, identify bottlenecks and ensure transparency of portfolio.
  • Oversee the collection, monitor and analyse the portfolio performance metrics, provide insights and recommendations for process improvement

 

  1. Continuous Improvement
  • Regularly review and refine processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the portfolio and project management.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Informatics, Health Information Management, Computer Science, Operations, Engineering, or a related field 
  • Professional certification in Project Management (including Agile), ITIL or equivalent areas is optional.
  • Technical proficiency in informatics tools and systems and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Epic EMR, is advantageous.

 

2 Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical informatics, health information management, or a related healthcare IT or operations or project administration role.
  • Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) is preferred.
  • Experience in project management and portfolio / budget management.

  • Good understanding of healthcare workflows and clinical processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail, proficient in data analysis and interpretation
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to sequence activities logically and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
