Key Responsibilities
Clinical and Technical Duties
- Verify patient identity and procedure details prior to the commencement of invasive cardiac procedures.
- Ensure accurate entry of patient risk factors, demographics, and clinical information into the Cardiac Imaging and Information Management System (CIIMS) or equivalent cardiovascular information system.
- Perform ECG lead placement, blood pressure monitoring, and pulse oximetry setup for haemodynamic monitoring.
- Recognize life-threatening ECG abnormalities and initiate emergency response and resuscitation measures when required.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures and promptly report changes in patient condition to the attending cardiologist.
- Perform haemodynamic monitoring and recording, and generate accurate procedural reports for diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
- Perform clinical and technical procedures according to departmental competency standards and clinical skills requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of medications administered and procedural event logs within the cardiovascular information system.
- Prepare and complete consumables charge documentation for procedures performed in the Invasive Cardiac Laboratory.
- Prepare cardiac databank documentation for data collection and registry purposes.
- Ensure all technical equipment used for invasive cardiac procedures is maintained in optimal working condition.
- Prepare and set up equipment required for electrophysiology studies (EPS).
- Operate radiofrequency (RF) ablation generators under the direct supervision of Electrophysiologists.
- Perform daily I-STAT analyser checks, quality control testing for new cartridges, and annual College of American Pathologists (CAP) proficiency testing.
- Independently perform and document Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR), and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) procedures.
- Maintain and replenish emergency PCI carts and procedural consumables.
- Provide immediate resuscitation support during cardiac emergencies.
- Participate in after hours on-call shift duty as rostered.
Education, Training and Professional Development
- Orientate and support new staff to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff to meet departmental competency requirements.
- Provide supervision and guidance to students during clinical attachments.
- Participate in continuing education activities and professional development initiatives to maintain clinical competency and knowledge.
Quality, Safety and Operational Responsibilities
- Participate in Ministry of Health (MOH) licensing exercises, audits, and accreditation activities.
- Contribute actively to departmental and hospital-wide Quality Improvement (QI) projects.
- Deliver patient care using evidence-based practices and professional standards.
- Report incidents, unusual occurrences, and unsafe practices in accordance with hospital policies and quality standards.
- Adhere to standard precautions, infection prevention measures, and aseptic techniques.
- Support organizational initiatives and change management efforts.
- Exercise care and accountability in the use of equipment, supplies, and resources.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the control room and work environment.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the hospital's emergency preparedness and mass casualty management plans, and participate in disaster exercises as required.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Reporting Officer, Head of Department, or designated supervisors.
