Role Overview
Join our Operating Theatre team and play a vital role in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. As an Operating Theatre Assistant, you will be hands-on in preparing operating rooms, supporting patient movement, and maintaining a clean, well-organised surgical environment.
This role is ideal for individuals who are dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Prepare operating theatres according to the daily surgical schedule
- Check, maintain, and ensure readiness of operating theatre equipment
- Safely bag and clear soiled linen from operating theatres, disposal areas, and changing rooms
- Bag and dispose of general and biohazard waste in accordance with safety protocols
- Transport patients safely between wards and the operating theatre
- Perform despatch and logistical support duties
- Maintain, replenish, and organise operating theatre supplies
Requirements
- Secondary education or above
- Able to work 3 rotating shifts, including weekends and Public Holidays
- Physically fit and able to perform tasks that involve standing, moving equipment, and patient transport
- Responsible, team-oriented, and attentive to hygiene and safety standards
