JOB SUMMARY
As Project Coordinator in the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) Research Laboratory, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the division’s portfolio of public health research projects. CDA Research Laboratory (CRL) leads research to support evidence-based policy and operational decision-making on infectious diseases of public health significance. The laboratory’s multidisciplinary teams in bacteriology, virology, immunology and diagnostics work closely with national and international partners to address emerging and priority public health challenges. Beyond coordinating project timelines and operational requirements, the role contributes to strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and the development of research roadmaps that advance the division’s scientific priorities.
Depending on experience, the incumbent may take on broader responsibilities such as shaping project frameworks, driving cross-sectional alignment across scientific teams, advising on resource planning, and supporting the Division in high-level engagements.
You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor timelines, milestones, and deliverables for the CRL’s research projects.
- Maintain a consolidated project tracker and oversee reporting structures for progress, risks, and key decision points.
- Organize project meetings, prepare documentation, and ensure follow-up of action items across multiple scientific sections.
- Support submissions and tracking of ethics, biosafety, and regulatory approvals.
- Assist in project scoping, including defining objectives, identifying research gaps, and aligning resources.
- Coordinate cross-sectional alignment to ensure projects are feasible, appropriately resourced, and scientifically coherent.
- Develop briefing materials, analyses, and strategic documents for senior management, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Maintain structured and auditable project documentation, including reports, meeting records, risk registers, and decision logs.
- Assist with laboratory operations and other assigned duties.
For Senior Project Coordinator:
- Contribute to strategic assessments of emerging health threats or scientific opportunities and translate them into project concepts.

- Mentor junior officers involved in research administration and project support.
- Contribute to process improvements, workflow design, or development of project governance frameworks.
- Represent the CRL in selected internal committees, as delegated.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- Degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, Project Management, or related discipline.
EXPERIENCE
- Strong organisational skills with proven experience coordinating complex projects.
- Excellent communication, writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and structured follow-through.
- Experience in strategic planning, research administration, public health programmes, or science policy development is preferred.
- Prior exposure to managing research portfolios, cross-agency programmes, or scientific operations is preferred
