Assistant / Manager (Academic Health Operations, Research Programmes) (Contract)
The incumbent will manage and coordinate institutional research programmes and funding initiatives within CRIO, with a primary focus on the NMRC Centre Grant (CG) and Strategic Research Programme (SRP).
The role will oversee the execution, monitoring and governance of research programmes, working closely with Principal Investigators, research teams and institutional stakeholders to ensure programme objectives, deliverables and funding requirements are achieved. This includes financial and performance monitoring, institutional research KPI tracking and consolidation, reporting and stakeholder engagement, while ensuring alignment with TTSH’s Academic Health priorities and relevant national research strategies.
The incumbent will also support the sustainability and continuous improvement of research programmes by identifying implementation gaps, strengthening programme management processes, and supporting the translation of research investments into research capability, collaboration and institutional impact.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SPECIFIC (80%)
Centre Grant Management
- Lead the operational execution and ongoing management of the NMRC Centre Grant, including coordination of workplans, milestones, deliverables, reporting cycles and governance requirements following award.
- Coordinate with Centre Grant leads, Principal Investigators, research teams and institutional stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of funded programmes and activities.
- Monitor programme performance, KPIs, milestones, deliverables and funding utilisation, identifying variances, implementation gaps and risks, and coordinating timely follow-up and intervention.
- Coordinate programme reviews, governance meetings and reporting requirements, including preparation of progress updates, management papers and funding agency submissions, and tracking decisions and follow-up actions to ensure accountability for agreed deliverables.
Strategic Research Programme (SRP) Management
- Oversee the execution and monitoring of the Strategic Research Programme, ensuring funded projects progress according to approved objectives, workplans, milestones and timelines.
- Monitor research outcomes, deliverables, expenditure and programme performance, and provide regular reporting to CRIO leadership and relevant governance bodies.
- Coordinate programme reviews and assess progress against agreed outcomes, identifying risks, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
Research KPI Tracking & Performance Monitoring
- Oversee and maintain a consolidated framework for institutional research KPI tracking, including KPIs arising from the Centre Grant, Strategic Research Programme and other institutional research priorities, ensuring consistent definitions, data sources, reporting timelines and accountability.
- Monitor and analyse progress against agreed research KPIs, targets and milestones, identify gaps or variances, and coordinate follow-up actions with relevant stakeholders.
- Consolidate and report research performance data to CRIO leadership, institutional governance committees and funding agencies where required, and support the use of KPI insights for strategic planning, performance review and strengthening TTSH’s Academic Health positioning.
- Support audit preparedness, compliance activities and institutional reporting relating to research programmes and funding.
Strategic Alignment & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Principal Investigators, theme / programme leads and institutional stakeholders to facilitate effective programme implementation and systematically document research progress, institutional enablers and translational outputs for leadership and funder reporting.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with external research partners and funding agencies, where required, to support programme delivery and strengthen research collaborations.
- Communicate programme outcomes, success stories, learning points and institutional impact for leadership review and strategic communications.
GENERAL (20%)
- Support CRIO-led institutional initiatives relating to Academic Health Excellence, research capability development, research education, innovation and research translation.
- Participate in relevant institutional committees, working groups, workshops, showcases and academic events.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Head of Department to support CRIO's strategic priorities and overall research ecosystem development.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Public Health, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Research Administration or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification in Research Administration, Project Management, Health Policy, Implementation Science or a related field would be advantageous.
TRAINING / SKILLS
- Proven experience in large-scale grant development, project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, stakeholders, milestones and competing priorities effectively.
- Strong understanding of research funding and grant management, including large-scale grant development, post-award administration, funding utilisation and reporting requirements.
- Excellent writing, presentation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to synthesise complex research and programme information into clear reports, management papers and presentations, and work effectively with researchers, administrators and external partners.
- Highly organised and meticulous, with strong documentation, monitoring and follow-up capabilities, and the ability to navigate healthcare operational systems to ensure smooth day-to-day and long-term programme execution.
EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years of experience in research programme management, research administration, grant management, clinical research, healthcare project management or a related field.
- Familiarity with the Singapore research ecosystem, including NMRC funding mechanisms, Centre Grants, RIE2030, and research governance processes such as IRB and ethics requirements, would be advantageous.
